Handmade Delights

More Food is a family run bakery specialising in premium quality handmade cakes and deliciously indulgent treats.

We make delicious cakes and treats by hand in our bakery in the Sussex Downs. As a family run business we bake as we would at home and take great care to make sure that all our ingredients are of the highest quality bringing you great taste and flavour in every bite.

More Food benefits from SEEDA support – boosting profits in an economic downturn.

Caron Howe, Managing Director of More Food has been enjoying the benefits of The High Growth Business Programme initiated by The South East Economic Development Agency (SEEDA) to promote manufacturing in the South of England.

The programme has enabled Caron to learn and implement new business development strategies aided by the Henley Business School and mentoring from business experts.

“The support has been fantastic from the High Growth Business Programme and I am eternally grateful to SEEDA for believing in my business and our potential to become a 10 million turnover business” says Caron. “In this current economic downturn we have been able to continue growth with an increase in orders, employing more staff and we are looking for bigger premises within the West Sussex area”.

Waitrose backing More Food as part of its Food Heroes in-store marketing drive.

The range, which promotes the retailer’s relationship with local and regional suppliers, comprises nearly 150 products, from sea salt and biscuits to wine.

Waitrose stores across the UK house high-profile display areas dedicated to showcasing the talent of British companies who have a passion for quality food and take pride in their areas of specialities.

At More Food we are proud to be one of Waitrose Food Heroes as we are as passionate about producing delicious products for customers as Waitrose and share the same values for promoting quality food. Our range of cakes can be found in stores nationally South of England to include: Coffee and Walnut, Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate Chip, Victoria Sponge, Apple and Blackcurrant Crumble and Cafemel sponge cake.

One of the favourite cakes in the range being promoted is our very raspberry Victoria Sponge Cake. Made with locally sourced butter and free range eggs each cake is handmade and filled with a delicious helping of raspberry jam which has been handmade in Sussex for us.

John Vine, local and regional buyer at Waitrose, said: ‘The Waitrose Food Heroes campaign is about celebrating the real foodie champions - the small, often family-run, businesses, working with endless skill, passion and enthusiasm. We want to tell our customers why these businesses are so special, and celebrate the fantastic food and drink they make.

More Food cakes can be found in most Waitrose stores.

More Food Goes Free Range

Sussex based cake company – More Food – specialising in handmade cakes, tray bakes, stacker products and individually wrapped cakes – has just announced that they are now using Free Range eggs across the wholesale, and coffee shop cake ranges, aiming to phase the retail range accross in early 2009.

“We believe this ethical move will not only make our cakes taste even more delicious but will appeal to people who care about how their food is made and where the ingredients come from”, says Caron Managing Director of More Food.

“We already use local producers where possible and purchase our carrots, jams and eggs from small local companies in West Sussex.”

More Food cakes are baked to order and are hand made then finished at their bakery in Chichester West Sussex. More produce the “Our Kitchen” cakes for Budgen’s, and are one of the company’s featured in the Waitrose “Our Heroes” series. More proudly won the Local Producer of the year Award with Waitrose.

More Food started just five years ago with three people baking the cakes and now it has over 50 staff working out of a bakery covering 8,000 square feet.

“I am very proud of our achievements, says Caron – and am excited about the future as the appeal for our cakes widens with new products being developed continually. We love being innovative with new flavours and tastes and like to keep up with consumer trends. We believe that our customers will be delighted with our move to using free range eggs”.
